The Scottish Country Shop was established by John and Gail Lewis in 1985. The Lewises sold Scottish import and gift items at highland games throughout the Northwestern USA and to local customers out of their home in Portland. In November 1991 John and Gail held the grand opening of the present retail storefront located at 3568 SE Powell Blvd. in Portland, Oregon. After 18 years in business, John and Gail retired. Rick and Debe McCaul assumed ownership and operation of the business on January 1, 2003, and continue to offer Celtic goods imported from the U.K. at the retail store and at highland games throughout the Western United States.
The staff of the Scottish Country Shop include Els, Jeanie, Rob, and Lucie. Els has been with the company the longest. If you have a question, Els has the answer or will find it for you. Jeanie loves reading and takes pride in our book department, insuring a great selection of books about Scotland and written by Scottish authors. Jeanie is also our wedding consultant and is knowledgeable about Celtic and Scottish wedding traditions. Rob is a professional piper who plays in the Celtic band, Raven, and also operates his recording studio, Barbarrick Music. Lucie enjoys researching family history and origins, tartans, and Scottish and Irish history.
